Anna Karlander

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Gothenburg. I recently returned to live there, after many years in Stockholm.
Some highlights from your professional life
I am proud to have worked with pedagogical development at the Royal Swedish Opera, as a producer at Dansens Hus and for the national touring network DanceNet Sweden, and as a regional dance advisor at NorrlandsOperan in Umeå.
A few years ago I wanted to refocus and started to work directly with independent dance groups in Sweden – in part to be closer to the creative process. I have worked as a producer for choreographers such as Gun Lund and Olof Persson in Gothenburg.

Since 2014 I work with Claire Parsons Co and this fantastic collaboration continues to grow and develop! Since January 2016, I have taken on all aspects of the production work including creative thinking and planning, national and international touring, networking, collaborations and so on.

Why do you want to work with performances for children and young audiences?
It is such an honour to be involved in the creation and dissemination of artistic work for young audiences. They are wise, challenging and honest.
It is essential that children and youth have access to high quality, multidisciplinary and inspiring cultural experiences, and that they are free to decide for themselves what they think about these experiences. I also think that great culture for children is equally great for adults…!
